Dry Skin – Causes
Itchy, dry skin can result from several causes. Often, dryness occurs due to excessive washing of different body parts. Dry hands may be caused by prolonged use of strong cleaning agents without gloves. In other cases, dryness stems from an inflammatory disease, while another common cause of dry skin is pregnancy.
Regardless of the reason, today there are many treatments that can alleviate dry skin or even completely resolve the issue, so there’s no need to continue suffering from this condition.
A variety of treatments are available, ranging from natural remedies that can be applied at home to medical treatments requiring a doctor’s prescription. These treatments aim to help the skin maintain its natural protective oil layer and add moisture that significantly relieves dryness. Preventive care may also include a vitamin-rich diet and improved sleep quality.
Dry Skin on the Feet
To prevent dry skin on the feet, it is recommended to drink plenty of water, apply a designated moisturizing cream in advance, and avoid showering in extremely hot water. If dryness appears, it can be treated with a therapeutic bath, peeling treatment, or fish spa – all of which help remove dead skin cells and allow the skin to renew itself. Afterward, the skin can be kept moisturized and fresh using designated oils.
Dry Facial Skin
Dry facial skin can be treated using nourishing masks. These can be medical-grade masks or natural solutions. A homemade nourishing mask can be prepared with egg yolk, olive oil, and mineral water. Another effective product for at-home facial treatments is avocado, which can be applied as a face mask combined with a spoonful of cheese or cream and olive oil.
Dry Skin on the Soles of the Feet
When dry skin accumulates on the soles of the feet, the best solution is to remove it, allow the skin to renew, and then apply a moisturizing cream to prevent further dryness. To remove the dry skin, a therapeutic bath or peeling treatment is recommended, followed by rubbing the foot with a coarse stone to remove dead skin cells. Afterward, apply a moisturizing foot cream frequently.
Dry Skin on the Hands
In some cases, resolving dry skin on the hands simply requires avoiding excessive hand washing and using gloves when handling cleaning products. If preventive care does not help, a medical hand cream can be used, or natural remedies can be applied – such as massaging the hands with olive oil for a few minutes each day.
